Who It's For

Peace of mind for you. Independence for them.

Do you have an aging loved one who wants to stay in the home they love, but could use a little help with the day-to-day? Or has a family member experienced a life-altering event that makes everyday tasks harder?

The right support at home can preserve independence and dignity, often at a far lower cost than assisted living. We're here to help your family find an arrangement that truly fits.

And connection matters as much as chores: many clients love sharing an art class with Tanya: painting, drawing, or a simple craft over a cup of tea. It brings creativity, conversation, and something to look forward to each week.

"Passionate about helping to create a home or space that feels authentic to you."

Tanya's Story

From art and teaching to elder care

Tanya's path to elder care runs through a decade of caring for people. With a Fine Arts degree from the University of the Fraser Valley, she spent years teaching elementary students, leading children's programs, and guiding art projects for families at a local gallery. Along the way, her years in hospitality taught her to notice the little things: the details that make people feel truly cared for.

What ties it all together is a simple belief: everyone deserves to feel at home. Today, Tanya brings that same patience, creativity, and kindness to seniors across the Fraser Valley and Tri-Cities, helping them stay independent, connected, and doing the things they love.

Meet Tanya

Care that feels like family

Hi, I'm Tanya Kaario, owner and operator of Independent Living Services. I'm a Langley local with a Fine Arts degree from the University of the Fraser Valley, and I've spent the past decade teaching, leading children's programs, and serving my community across the Fraser Valley.

My path here has been full of caring roles: teaching elementary students, directing a children's ministry, leading family art programs at a local gallery, and even running my own little business hand-carving wooden spoons. Every one of those taught me the same lesson: people thrive when someone shows up for them with warmth and patience.

Patience, kindness, and genuine care are at the heart of everything I do. Years in hospitality taught me to notice the little things: dietary needs, comfort, the details that make people feel truly cared for. And as an artist and woodcarver, one of my favourite things is doing art together with clients: painting, drawing, or a simple creative project shared over a cup of tea.

Whether it's a weekly helping hand or extra support after a big life change, I'd love to meet you and your family and find what fits.

What families are saying

"I am so incredibly grateful for Tanya! My family and I have been hiring her for over 5 years now to help my senior parents, and she has been truly invaluable in our lives. She is amazing at preparing meals, running essential tasks, and helping my parents downsize and organize their belongings. She is incredibly kind, gentle, and an absolute joy to be around. She is wonderful with seniors, and my Mom loves the conversations they have. Hire Tanya! She is the best there is!"
